There are two questions which when asked seem to be very strange ones indeed when they are asked by both Americans and foreigners alike. Whilst the questions in themselves are valid ones ,since they betray the huge curiosity that this man has generated throughout the world, they may at first seem rather bizarre when you take into account, that he was running for the top job in the United States of America.
What are the questions well they are related.
- What nationality is Barack Obama?
AND
- Is Barack Obama a natural born citizen [of the United States]
They are as I said valid questions for people who may not be familiar with the constitution of the United States of America. But would seem quite weird to someone who is American who lives in the US, or has studied the US consititution since no foreign citizen naturalised or not can run for the highest office in the land, that of the office of President, whilst they can run for other government posts such as Governor (e.g. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Govenor of California)
To answer rhe questions, you need only read one of
Barack Obama's books, listen to his Democratic National Congress (DNC) speech from 2004, or any number of speeches that President-elect Barack Obama has made.
Barack Obama was born in Hawaii which is one of the 50 states in the Union. His mother was from Kansas a white woman. His father was an African born in a small village in Kenya, who was studying in Hawaii when he met Barack's mother.
This means the answer to the first question is Barack Obama's nationality American, the answer to the second question is Yes, he is a natural born citizen since he was born in America and had an American mother.
